Disguise

This is a combined series of illustration and textile designs, this part focusing on textile masks. The project draws inspiration from the "disguises" people adopt in daily life. In various social settings, individuals with different personalities wear metaphorical "masks" to conceal their true selves, each for their own purpose. This behaviour mirrors how animals use camouflage for protection.

I have represented these disguises through mask designs, reflecting different personality types. The design elements are inspired by the animal worship motifs commonly found in African masks. The masks are crafted using needle felting, wet felting, crochet, beading, and weaving techniques. The combination of materials and contrasting textures enhances the dimensionality and richness of the mask designs.
